We visited the Ritz-Carlton on Key Biscayne for the day. True to the brand, the resort was beautiful with marble everywhere and lovely decorative details. There appeared to be a large number of employees looking to serve guests in any way they could.

Accessibility appeared to be good for much of the resort. You can ride a wheelchair or scooter right up to the beach entrance. One notable exception was the restaurant by the main pool. To get to the seating there was a step, or you could sit on the lower level, but the ground was covered with crushed shells which we could not ride on. The seats were so close together we could not have accessed them anyway.

Since my wife was able to transfer, we decided to have a drink in the restaurant/bar. It overlooks the ocean, though a sand dune partially blocks the view. Still it was a pleasant location. We purchased one lite beer and one glass of Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur), and it came to $26. We felt this was quite high, even for an upscale resort.

When the waiter brought over chips and salsa we asked whether they were gluten free. He immediately went to ask the chef, who knew that they were not. No alternatives were suggested or offered.

At the beach there were waiters taking orders and bringing food and drinks. Employees were adjusting the chairs and umbrellas to accommodate the guests wishing to follow the sun. The level of service appeared to be beyond that of what many resorts offer, which may be helpful to those with special needs. The beach itself was kind of small, with a notable slant to the ground, which some people may find uncomfortable.

There were no noticeable fragrances or strong odors in the main lobby (allergies). Overall the common areas of the resort appear to be in excellent condition.
