Dania Beach Ocean Park

Dania Beach Ocean Park site

We love going to the beach, but because of some physical challenges, we've only been able to enjoy the beach when we've stayed at nice ocean side resorts. If you set us up with comfy lounge chairs, a big umbrella and a close restroom, we're happy. We've finally located a beach area that meets this criteria.

Dania Beach Ocean Park has what we need. First, there's a restroom (accessible) that you can sit close to. This minimizes walking. Second, you can rent umbrellas and lounge chairs with thick pads on them. This minimizes the need to carry all this stuff you, and to set it up. The chairs are quite sturdy and comfortable, and the umbrellas are large and heavy, so the quality of the set-up is better than what most people could bring themselves. The very friendly staff person (Shane is the person we met) will set everything up for you, and will even come move the umbrella and/or chairs when the sun shifts.

The rental company is called La Dolce Vita and they can be reached at 954-850-2116. They are open from 9 am to 5 pm daily. Prices are currently as follows:

2 chairs & 1 umbrella - $30 a day, $20 for a half day.

single chair - $10 a day

single umbrella - $15 a day

They currently have a special that gives you 6 days for the price of 5. You can also purchase 10 days for $150, which brings the price of two chairs and an umbrella to $15 a day. These days can be taken any time within a year.

The beach area has parking right next to the beach sand. There's also handicapped parking right by the beach paths. There is a fee for parking (the machine takes dollars and five dollar bills), but we've been told that those with handicapped plaques can park free.

The beach is right by a large fishing pier. There's also a restaurant on the pier called Beach Watch. We've eaten there once. The view was just spectacular and the food was horrible. Not only was the food clearly not fresh, they were out of many items on the menu, including coffee. We'd recommend bringing your own food with you rather than dining here. Here's the restaurant's web page:

In the same area is a restaurant called Dania Beach Bar & Grill. We haven't tried it yet, but when we do we'll let you know. We'll be looking into whether they handle special dietary needs.
