Located in the Boca Raton Town Center Mall, this high end restaurant
offers a sophisticated ambience, attentive service and delicious food.
When we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by several
employees. My wife was riding a scooter and they immediately helped her
find a location to park it.
We waited a moment until our table was ready, and then we were escorted
over to a booth. The dining rooms are elegant with dark walls, dark
furnishings, stained glass chandeliers, paintings, wine racks, a few
stuffed and mounted animal heads (maybe a bit creepy to us but some
people will love it), and world clocks. Frank Sinatra style music plays
quietly in the background. Since it was my birthday, they had sprinkled
the table with confetti and birthday card signed by the staff.
The restaurant has regular tables and wood chairs as well as padded
booth seating. Most if not all tables are accessible and there's plenty
of room for a wheelchair to navigate. The bathrooms are accessible.
This restaurant has a gluten free menu, however when we asked the server
for it, she said "You can eat anything on the menu except for the blue
cheese". Realizing she didn't have any idea what we were talking about,
my wife informed her that it's more complex than that. She let her know
that she'd been told that this restaurant offers a special menu. She did
come back with it a couple minutes later.
First we were served a basket of various styles of bread with butter. My
wife had noticed home made potato chips by the bar, and requested this
in place of the bread. I ordered a chopped salad with bacon vinaigrette
dressing, which was flavorful, delicious and actually fantastic. My wife
had the gluten free French onion soup (minus the bread), which was rich
and wonderfully full of cheese and onions.
For the main course, I had a sirloin with mashed potatoes, and my wife
had the filet minion with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Each food was
delivered on its own plate. When they delivered the food, my wife noted
that the two plates of mashed potatoes were really large portions. The
waitress offered to take back one of the two plates, which we were
grateful for (considering it was about $8 or $9 per side dish plate).
The simply cooked asparagus portion was enough to share as well. The
mashed potatoes tasted strongly of butter, and the dish needed a lot of
salt. with
Both beef dishes were flame grilled, very tender and perfectly prepared.
My wife's filet was, according to her, the best or among the best few
filet mignon's she's ever had. My filet was also delicious. Since it was
my birthday, they served a rich, flourless chocolate mocha cake with
cream. The chocolate was very dark and intense, and I really enjoyed it.
My wife found the chocolate to dark for her tastes. We topped off the
meal with flavorful cappuccinos which were topped with cinnamon and
served with rock candy stir sticks.
I should mention that though my wife stuck to the foods that were
supposed to be gluten free, that evening she had symptoms associated
with having had gluten.
We enjoyed this restaurant and would come back for special occasions,
though I think we'd request to speak with a chef next time about my
wife's gluten free diet needs. The bill including the tip was about $156
for the two of us.
